January Membership Meeting

Dr. Majalise Tolan, Lincoln County School District (LCSD) Superintendent, will be the speaker at the January 2024 LWVLC membership meeting. The meeting will be held on Thursday, January 18, at 11:30 am, in the Newport Public Library  McEntee meeting room. The meeting is open to the public. 

Dr. Tolan succeeded Dr Karen Gray when Dr Gray retired as LCSD Superintendent, on June 30,  2023. Superintendent Tolan had previously been the district’s secondary education and athletics director. This is her 15th year working in LCSD. In accepting her appointment as Superintendent,  Tolan said, “In my first year, I want to continue to build partnerships across the county as I get to know more about the strengths and opportunities in all of our areas. I believe in our staff, students,  families, and communities and look forward to  collaborating as we continue to prepare our students for their future.” 

We will ask Superintendent Tolan how she would like the League or individuals to communicate with staff at schools. We would like to know what teachers are doing on a regular basis in regard to voter education, and how the League can best help teachers learn about the mock election.
