PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
On January 21, 2017 the first Women’s March on Washington took place to express concerns for
women’s rights. You probably remember pictures of the participants – half a million of them! –
wearing those pink “pussycat hats”. Women (and men) all over the world were marching, but
the flagship event took place in Washington, DC. Its purpose (held the day after President
Trump’s inauguration) was to draw attention to the universal rights of women everywhere –
rights to equal healthcare, equal pay for equal work, reproductive rights, immigration rights and
racial justice to mention just a few.

This year on Saturday, October 2nd, Lincoln City will be hosting its own local Women’s
March/Demonstration at the “D” River Wayside from 11 am to 1 pm. Come & join your neighbors, both men and women, in a non-violent demonstration to promote equal rights for all women, all people, regardless of race, creed or gender identity. (And you don’t need a pink hat to participate!) For more information, call Georgia at 541-614-1282.
Just a reminder, this event is not hosted by the League of Women Voters of Lincoln County, however; we have a bit of history with standing up for women's rights. We hope to see many of our friends and neighbors join us in support. Thank you.
